Ellen Booth Church

Ellen Booth Church was born to a family of musicians and educators, and spent much of her childhood making music and dancing in the woods.  Her family's creative playful approach to living inspired her to study early childhood education and later become a preschool and kindergarten teacher at the Campus School of the State University of New York at New Paltz.  Ellen began teaching early childhood courses at the college and later became an associate professor of early childhood at SUNY Farmingdale, NY.

As an educational consultant and author, Ellen brings an unusual approach of combining cognitive learning experiences with creative play.  With Helen Benham and Jackie Carter, she developed the magazine Early Childhood Today (formerly Pre-K Today) for Scholastic Publishing.  She wrote the columns Circle Time and Ages and Stages columns for that magazine, and is currently writing and consulting for Scholastic's Parent and Child Magazine, Barnes & Noble Kids' Expert Circle and Environments, Inc.

She authored the laminated reference guides, Behavior Management in Early Childhood and Transition Time Activities, published byNational Professional Resources, Inc./Dude Publishing.
