A reading program that allows kids to progress at their own pace
Joyful Reading introduces the Schoolwide Enrichment Model for Reading (SEM-R)–an approach that has proven effective in both poor urban schools as well as in affluent suburban schools. This program can be used with all students–from the struggling to the gifted–and can be readily adapted to either replace or supplement existing reading programs. Joyful Reading emphasizes independent reading with student choice in selection of reading material along with instructional practices and critical thinking activities that make it easy for teachers to tailor learning to the individual needs of each student. The DVD included with the book demonstrates the program in action.
