This research-based video and print curriculum is an essential primer on many of the social skills that will aid and prepare teens for their future interactions and relationships. Adolescence is a critical time for young people to develop confidence, learn how to get along with others, gain conflict-resolution skills as well as increase their self-esteem. Designed as a workshop led by a clinical psychologist, this video focuses on a group of real students as they improvise common social scenes that your students are sure to recognize and relate to. Some of these skills include basic courtesy, listening skills, reading verbal and non-verbal cues, handling common social and school encounters, dealing with adults and peers, and learning how to negotiate a compromise. A special section on shyness-busting skills is also included. The worksheets and class activities in the Teacher’s Resource Book reinforce the video’s visual lessons and remind students that social skills are important in every aspect of life.
Basic Social Skills - Demonstrates foundation social skills including basic courtesy, listing, non verbal skills, icebreakers and others in common school situations.
