Angel Barrett


Angel Barrett, EdD has been an educator with the Los Angeles Unified School District more than 30 years. Beginning as a bilingual teacher, she is now the Lead Instructional Director in the Superintendent's Intensive Support and Innovation Center (ISIC). During her tenure as principal of Plummer Elementary School, she transformed one of the lowest performing schools in the LAUSD into a California Distinguished School. In 2009, the National Association of Elementary School Principals honored her as a National Distinguished Principal. Barrett also serves as the state co-president of the Elementary Council for the Association of California School Administrators and as a commissioner on the Instructional Quality Commission for the California State Board of Education.

Barrett holds a bachelor’s degree and an EdD from the University of California at Los Angeles and an MA from California State University at Los Angeles. She is the author of the laminated reference guide RTI and Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Students, a publication of National Professional Resources, Inc./Dude Publishing.
