Early Childhood

Education in early childhood refers to “developmentally appropriate practice” for students in preschool, kindergarten and the early grades. Developmentally appropriate practice is understood to be both age-appropriate and appropriate to the individual child (takes into account each child's own development, interests, and cultural background). Early childhood is also a stage at which children who exhibit cognitive or behavioral difficulties can receive valuable early assessment and intervention.
