Christine Besko-Maughan

Christine Besko-Maughan, MS is a clinical instructor, coordinator of the Assistive Technology Center, and coordinator of the Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement Program at William Paterson
University in Wayne, NJ.  She teaches both graduate and undergraduate level assistive technology courses and guides the annual AccessAbilities Conference, which focuses on implementing technology
in the classroom for students with special needs.  

Besko-Maughan has facilitated the curriculum development for new and revised academic programs within the Special Education and Counseling Department at William Paterson University.  In addition to working at William Paterson University, she was a clinical instructor at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ, and taught graduate level courses in the Teacher of Students with Disabilities master’s program.

Recently, Besko-Maughan presented at NJEDge.net, a non-profit technology consortium of academic and research institutions in New Jersey, and was recognized as "Faculty Best Showcase" for her use of iPads in higher education.  In addition, Christine has presented at NJECC and AccessAbilities on how to successfully implement the iPad™ into the classroom for students with special needs.  With Brian Friedlander, she is the co-author of the laminated guides iPad™: Enhancing Learning and Communication for Students with Special Needs and Autism & the iPad: Strengthening Communication and Behavior.


Besko-Maughan is a certified special education teacher and a teacher of the visually impaired, and consults for local school districts in identifying the needs of students with exceptionalities through assistive technology evaluations, in-classroom support, environmental modifications, and professional development workshops.
