Kathy Dunne serves as director of professional development for learning innovations at WestEd.  With more than 20 years of experience designing and implementing mentoring, induction, and coaching programs, as well as training and preparing mentors and content-based coaches, Kathy has directed content-based coaching and mentoring programs in many states such as Arizona, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.  Her work has increased the capacity of lead mentors and coaches to provide training to new cohorts of mentors and coaches.

Dunne has taught at the middle, high school, and college levels, and served as a curriculum supervisor for the New Hampshire State Department of Education.  Currently, she is an adjunct faculty member at Fitchburg State College.  She has also worked with several state agencies in the Northeast and in Michigan on policy issues related to the induction and certification of teachers and administrators. She received a BS in physical education and health and an MEd in curriculum and supervision from the University of New Hampshire.

She co-authored Mentoring New Teachers Through Collaborative Coaching: Linking Teacher and Student Learning and the accompanying facilitator guide with Susan Villani. Grounded in research on effective mentoring and coaching, this book and guide provide extensive guidance, tools, and resources to develop mentoring and induction programs and prepare mentor teachers.  Kathy is a co-author, with Susan Villani, of two laminated reference guides published by NPR, Inc./Dude Publishing: Collaborative Coaching: Coach's Guide, and Collaborative Coaching, Coaching Partner's Guide
