Kenneth Kolwicz

Kenneth Kolwicz received his BA from Dominican College and his MS from Long Island University, and has taught for 26 years in a residential treatment center for boys.  His areas of expertise are special education, English/language arts, and mathematics.  While teaching, he also found time to coach basketball and baseball for all age groups.  He is currently a special education teacher at Warwick Valley High School in Warwick, NY.

Over many years, Kolwicz has worked extensively with new teachers as a mentor and in collaborative settings, advising them how to avoid "new teacher" mistakes.  In 2009, he and Assistant Principal Greg Lisack founded the Hook, Line & Sinker Fishing Club where they mentor both beginning and experienced members on the art and skill of fishing.  His interests include a passion for fishing, woodworking, and the restoration of historic homes.

He is the author of the laminated reference guide, A New Teacher’s Survival Guide: Avoiding the Common Pitfalls, a publication of National Professional Resources, Inc./Dude Publishing.
