Michelle Hosp

Michelle Hosp, PhD is a nationally known trainer and speaker on problem solving and the use of progress-monitoring data.  She received her doctorate in education and human development from Vanderbilt University and a master's in school psychology from the Rochester Institute of Technology and has been a research associate in the College of Education at the University of Iowa.  Her research focus is on assessment (data-based decision making in relation to curriculum-based measurement (CBM) and curriculum-based evaluation (CBE) and reading.

Hosp has worked as a trainer with the National Center on Progress Monitoring and the National Center on Response to Intervention and is currently employed by the Iowa Department of Education as a consultant for Data-Based Decision Making and Program Monitoring.

She has published articles and conducted workshops both at the state and national level. With John Hosp and Kenneth Howell, she co-wrote the book, The ABCs of CBM: A Practical Guide to Curriculum-Based Measurement.  She also co-wrote, with John Hosp, the laminated reference guide, Curriculum-Based Measurement: A Teacher’s Guide, published by National Professional Resources, Inc./Dude Publishing.
